Physical Education

"To see young people growing in physical skills, self-confidence and self-worth is a truly enriching experience. Nowhere in school is it more visible than in PE." (Duncan Goodhew)

Our Vision for PE

At Long Buckby infant School we aim to develop pupils who will be physically active and can flourish in a range of different physical activities.

The aims of our PE curriculum are to develop pupils who are willing to practise skills in a range of different activities and situations, alone, in small groups and in teams, and to apply these skills in chosen activities to achieve exceptionally high levels of performance.  We encourage children to have and maintain high levels physical fitness while leading a healthy lifestyle which is achieved by eating sensibly.  We aim for children to remain physically active for sustained periods of time and understand the importance of this in promoting long-term health and well-being.

By providing a rich and varied curriculum, along with giving our children a wealth of different sporting opportunities and experiences, we ensure that our children create positive relationships with physical activity for life, whilst developing their understanding of how to keep physically healthy, eat healthily and maintain a healthy, balanced and active lifestyle.
